Accessibility

We're committed to making The Neurodiverse Brain accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.

Our commitment

Given that our content serves neurodivergent families, accessibility is especially important to us. Many people with ADHD and autism have specific needs around how information is presented. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.

Current accessibility features

  • Keyboard navigation support throughout the site
  • Skip-to-content link for screen reader users
  • Clear heading structure for easy navigation
  • Alt text for all meaningful images
  • Sufficient colour contrast for readability
  • Resizable text without loss of functionality
  • Clear, simple language throughout
  • Mobile-friendly responsive design
  • Focus indicators on interactive elements
  • No content that flashes more than 3 times per second

Planned improvements

We're always working to improve accessibility. Here's what we're working on:

  • Dyslexia-friendly font option
  • High contrast mode
  • Reduced motion option for users who prefer less animation
  • Audio versions of key articles
  • Video captions and transcripts
